1. Installation
- Please temporary stop anti-virus software before installing Vocalster.
- After downloading, decompress the zip file, double click 'setup.exe' to install Vocalster. You can specify where to install by clicking 'Browse...', or simply click 'Next', 'Install' to install it under the default folder. Your system may warn you the software doesn't have a digital signature, as shown below. Ignore it. It is not a malware or Trojan horse.
- The Vocalster icon will appear on your desktop and fast launch bar after installing it successfully.
- Double click the Vocalster icon, you will see a window where you can change settings and more. Meanwhile, you will see the Vocalster icon at the lower right corner (the task bar), indicating it is running properly.
Note: Rising Kaka (anti-virus software) mistakenly identifies Vocalster as with 'back door' and stops it from running. This is not true. Vocalster doesn't contain any 'back door' or 'hidden' code.

| 2. Version 2.7 Usage |
In addition to features in version 1, version 2.7 enables you to send pre-recorded sounds or phrases during chat. You can download various sound files from our website and upload yours to share with the community.
- When starting and exiting Vocalster, please do not use your audio devices, e.g., chatting online or listening to music.
- After you run Vocalster, you should see the interface below.
- To alter your voice during conversation, click one of these icons. Each icon represents a different effect.
- Check this box to preview the altered voice. Un-check it during the actual conversations.
- To send pre-recorded sounds, click one of these icons. Each icon binds to an audio file.
- To add a pre-recorded sound, right click on an unused icon. You can bind an audio file to the icon.
- You can record your conversation. Click on the 'record' button, and then specify the file name. You can also specify if you want to record the original or altered voice.
- You can play background music or previously recorded conversations. Just click on the 'play' button, and specify the audio file you want to play.
- Click this icon to fine tune the voice-altering effect.
- Check the checkbox and Vocalster will automatically load the file we prepare for you through the parameter suggestion service.

| 3. Version 1.0 Usage |
- Simply launch 'Vocalster', before or after you start your voice chat software like MSN or Skype, you can change your voice, play background music, and record.
- You can use the 'Preview' feature to check the effect of your changed voice.

 1. Using with MSN
|
If after running Vocalster but your voice doesn't change, please do the following settings:
- In MSN, click 'Tools', then select 'Audio and video settings'.
- Under 'Speaker', select 'Vocalster virtual audio'.
- Under 'Microphone', select 'Vocalster virtual audio'. Click 'Next' to get into video settings, then click 'Finish'.

2. Using with QQ |
If after running Vocalster but your voice doesn't change, please do the following settings:
- On the QQ friend dialog window, click the 'V' next to 'voice chat', select 'settings'; or on main QQ window, click 'System menu' -> 'Tools' -> 'Audio video settings'. Go to the next step.
- In 'Audio video wizard', specify both 'Audio input' and 'Audio output' to 'Vocalster virtual audio', then click 'Finish'.

3. Using with Skype |
If after running Vocalster but your voice doesn't change, please do the following settings:
- On Skype, click 'Tools', then 'Options'.
- On 'Options', click 'Audio'.
- Specify 'Vocalster virtual audio' as the 'Microphone device'. Click 'Finish'.

4. Using with ISpeak |
On Windows 2000/2003/XP, simply start Vocalster will do.
